Artist Statement:
My understanding as a female in society fuels the content of my work. I juxtapose the female figure with the wildness of nature to convey a sense of female power. I am greatly influenced by works of literature that represent the female through supernatural imagery. I expand the Romantic idea of nature as a sublime element, emphasizing the weather, and other natural phenomenon, so as to expose the disorderly freedom of the natural world. The unruly landscape mirrors the mysterious female figure. Furthermore, I represent the figure in an isolated environment, with a strong gaze toward the viewer. My cool color palette assists in creating a mood that reflects the dismal emotion of the figure. The melancholic expressions of the figure, combined with natural phenomenon, convey a sense of intrigue. All of these decisions allow me to engage the viewer with sensual wonder and emotion.

I wanted to thank everyone for all of the Happy Birthday wishes and comments! I haven't been able to reply to anyone because of exams, paintings, papers, etc. It's my last year at college! Anyway, I'm hoping to find time to post my newest painting tomorrow night. Thanks again everyone!! Sorry, I'm posting this so quickly. I have a huge midterm tomorrow for my American Masterpieces class (today was my Art History midterm) so I need my sleep!

Hello my dear friends, I wish you a merry Christmas and an Happy New year 2020. Peace on Earth.

In a few days, it is going to be a relatively normal day...for most.  But not for you.  For on that day...it will be a good day to revel in the moment that you were cast down upon this Earth, summoned and placed here by the mighty Odin to share your talents and your creativity with all.  Let thee rejoice and enjoy this time, and know you are wished a Happy Birthday!  May many more follow!

Also, Odin sends cake, blessed by King Kong and delivered by Godzilla! :D (Big Grin):cake:
